Discover Wajir County

Wajir County is a land of plenty! In the last Northern Kenya livestock Census of 2009, it was approximated that the county had over 15.3 million animals with a market value of 55 Billion Kenya Shillings;

The entire County enjoys abundant sunshine throughout the year, with vast tracts of land devoid of vegetation for solar power generation;

Select areas like the at lands of Herbaswean and the bare terrain bordering the Chalbi desert on the Marsabit side are Giraffereputed to have the greatest winds speeds in the world and great wind speeds ideal for renewable energy generation;

There is an abundance of underground aquifers and shallow wells with yet to be quantied water reserves;

The Eastern part of Wajir is covered with naturally growing thickets and forests that yield the largest quantities of gums and resins produced in Kenya more than half of the world’s supply;

The entire County sits on huge deposits of untapped limestone with commercial viability for manufacturing cement;

Wajir borders, and is central to, Marsabit, Mandera, Garrissa and Isiolo areas that will be covered by LAPPSET corridor project. Wajir County will be accessible through the areas of Nunu and Mothogash, which will be covered by this major International trunk road and therefore open up the county for business and leisure travel;

With abundant wildlife like giraes and leopards, our border with the Ewasongiro basin as well as the Sarova Shaba, the County is provides untapped opportunities for tourism exploration.
