The Wajir County Executive and technical team, led by CECM for Finance Mr. Mohamed Hassan, met with a delegation from the FSD Kenya-led consortium, which includes PwC Kenya, Adaptation Consortium, and ALDEF Kenya. The meeting focused on introducing the County Green Project Preparation Facility.

The initiative aims to assist the county in forming a green investment working group that will oversee the development of project proposals to attract climate finance from various sources, including the private sector.

The project will explore innovative climate financing models and market instruments as potential funding sources for green investments.

This builds on the green finance assessment conducted in 2023, which evaluated Wajir County’s economic and fiscal conditions, credit risk, green asset availability, and finance capabilities. The assessment highlighted the county’s potential for investments in energy efficiency, water harvesting, and agro-processing for export.
