Wajir County Hosts Stakeholders’ Meeting to Advance Camel Milk Value Chain and Boost Economic Opportunities.

Wajir News 22nd August 2024,

A one-day stakeholders’ meeting was held in Wajir County to present the findings, recommendations, and intervention strategies from the Regional Livestock Program (RLP) camel milk value chain study. The event, conducted in partnership with Mercy Corps, focused on enhancing the camel milk value chain to bolster food security and create economic opportunities for women and youth.

The RLP aims to support camel milk value chain actors and collaborate closely with the Wajir County Government, specifically the Department of Livestock Production and Veterinary Services. The initiative seeks to improve climate resilience and foster sustainable livelihoods in pastoral communities, with a particular focus on poor households, women, and youth engaged in livestock.

The workshop was officially opened by Hon. Farah Saman, the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Irrigation. Attendees included county chief officers, the RLP regional team, county directors, technical staff, development partners, and representatives from Wajir camel milk associations.
