The Wajir County Project Coordination team, led by Project Coordinator CS Mohamed Adow Abdi, has initiated sensitization sessions for the Settlement Executive Committees and Grievance Redress Committees. These sessions, conducted in collaboration with the National Project Coordination Team and GeoDev Kenya Limited, focus on land tenure regularization for seven settlements in Wajir Municipality. This initiative is part of a broader effort funded by the World Bank through the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project 2, in partnership with the County Government of Wajir.

During the sessions, CS Mohamed Adow Abdi emphasized the commitment of H.E. FCPA Ahmed Abdullahi to effective urban planning. He highlighted the Governor’s vision to address land tenure issues, improve access to settlements, and establish a comprehensive developmental agenda that includes modern infrastructure and enhanced service delivery.

The collaboration between the World Bank and the County Government of Wajir exemplifies the effectiveness of partnerships in achieving sustainable urban development. Community members were encouraged to engage actively, with an emphasis on transparency and accountability. This project aims to empower local communities, fostering a sense of ownership and promoting a collaborative approach to urban planning and land management.
